Well, after mentioning this feature off and on for the last couple of issues, I’ve finally figured out how to let you browse the works of your favourite authors. On the left hand side, under the “About Us” title, you will find the Authors link, which will take you to a complete list of all the people who have published an article in the journal! (Blog post authors, your turn will come. The last shall be first…)
Eventually, too, I hope to have a biography page for each author – though of course this depends on how much each author wants to make public. At any rate, I think it’s time we all get a little better acquainted. It can be easy to focus on our tasks and forgetting with whom we are working, and I know I often have to apologize for exactly that.

I’m sorry I haven’t been blogging as much recently, either! I’ll be back to work soon, with a couple questions for all of you.
To begin with – I would like to give the authors more feedback from readers. If you wanted to communicate with the author of an article in the journal, would you prefer to have a form that lets you send him a private letter, or a form that leaves a public comment? I’ll be asking the authors the same question, whether they prefer private or public discussion of their works, and hopefully we can reach some consensus.
Definitely prefer public comments. It’s much more valuable to let a community develop around public discussion, as opposed to isolated conversations only. Isn’t that the power of the web?
Someone can always leave an anonymous comment if they aren’t comfortable with their name being associated with something.
Also, this avoids some spam issues by making email addresses public.

The spam issue is definitely a big part of my motivation, and I agree that the internet gives us the capability to interact as a group.
I suppose the real question is whether the authors are up to defending themselves when criticized publicly. Not that it should be a problem, but it’s not what was advertised when I got them to submit articles… Thank you for giving a reader’s perspective!
