Theme for Fall 2008: Work
The majority of our lives we spend working. It is easy to get into the habit of “living for the weekend” – dreading the necessary return to effort and difficulty.
In contrast, Catholic thought has often proclaimed the dignity and necessity of work. Rather than glorifying the “easy life,” then, in this issue we want to concentrate on the virtuous and often heroic aspect of work.
Remind the world of the joy of building something truly worthwhile and valuable; the fulfillment of stretching the limits of one’s abilities; the honest pride of overcoming terrific difficulties and obstacles. Inspire us to explore and discover, to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good – revive the romance of the Labours of Hercules and the Arthurian quests. Good must work in order to overcome evil.

Theme for Winter 2008: “Poverty, Chastity and Obedience.”
A rather more explicitly Catholic theme, though you need only deal with one of the three topics in any given work.
